Know about Snow

There are several types of snow that can fall, depending on the weather conditions. Here are some common types of snow:

  1. Powder snow – This is dry, fluffy snow that falls when the temperature is cold, usually between -12°C to -18°C. Powder snow is light and easy to ski or snowboard on.
  2. Wet snow – This type of snow falls when the temperature is near freezing and the snowflakes are partially melted. Wet snow is heavy and can be difficult to shovel or plow.
  3. Packed snow – This is snow that has been compressed by foot traffic, skiing, or grooming machines. Packed snow is denser than powder snow and can be easier to ski or snowboard on.
  4. Ice pellets – These are small, hard, round pellets of ice that fall when the temperature is close to freezing. Ice pellets are sometimes called sleet.
  5. Graupel – This is a soft, white, rounded pellet of snow that is formed when supercooled water droplets freeze onto falling snowflakes. Graupel is sometimes called soft hail or snow pellets.
  6. Snowflakes – These are the classic six-sided ice crystals that form when water vapor freezes in the atmosphere. Snowflakes can be large or small, and can fall as individual flakes or as clumps.

These are just a few examples of the types of snow that can fall, and there can be variations depending on the specific weather conditions.
